Staying Economically Strong
Business and an entrepreneurial spirit drive Michigan’s economy. The integration of our economy with the global market through trade means that being competitive is more important now than ever. No longer do we only compete locally, regionally, or nationally. In today’s world, businesses must compete internationally.
Senator Stabenow and the Democrats are convinced that the drain on Michigan’s economy comes from global trade. They don’t see that global trade provides a great opportunity for the expansion of Michigan’s economy. Their solution is to set up trade barriers. Both their diagnosis and their remedy are wrong. The days of isolationism are long past. To become more competitive, we need to look closely at what saps our state of its ability to compete in the global market. We need to hold our political leaders responsible for their voting records which currently demonstrate a consistent anti-business, anti-growth perspective.
Michigan deserves leadership at the national level that understands
Tripod Economics. We need people who will consider the needs of consumers, employers and employees. We must demand an end to class warfare that pits labor against management. Instead of 1960’s business models, we need people who are willing to fight for the economic future of Michigan and will not be controlled by special interest groups whose concerns are only for their own group.
The cost of failure is staggering. I grew up outside Gary, Indiana, and I know what happens when the manufacturing base collapses. Spousal abuse, substance abuse, divorce and the violent crime rate all go up as the economy collapses. Senator Stabenow’s class warfare is typical of those seeing the beginnings of failure. Instead of looking for necessary federal policy changes, she is searching for someone to blame. This will not help Michigan’s economy.
We need to send someone to Washington who understands the economic challenges we face. We need a senator who has ideas on how to make the most of our opportunities and will take an active role in returning Michigan to national leadership in manufacturing and business. I am that candidate.
I need your support and I need your vote.
I need the vote of consumers who are concerned about the rising costs of goods and services.
I need the vote of employees who see that the Democrats too often lead their unions around by the nose and don’t act in the best interest of labor.
I need the vote of small business owners who want to expand their businesses but are being choked by bad tax policy, faulty tort law and rising health care costs.
I need the vote of those who employ hundreds or even thousands of people who know they need a healthy and well-educated workforce.
I am your candidate.
The challenges we face are not insurmountable. We can recover our economic supremacy. When given a fair opportunity, the people of Michigan will answer the call. Michigan’s best days are in front of us. We are as hard-working and entrepreneurial as we have ever been. We have great opportunities before us. Let’s make the most of them.
